A collaborative project for 40 young people from East London between ourselves; UEL; UAL/Central St.Martins; Digital Fluid (Jake Strickland – video; and Hannah Mason – VJ) and NEPA ventures (Tony Nwachukwu – soundscape/music). Meltdown 2009 website was developed by the students working with Laura Baker from UAL. Supported by student ambassadors from all three partner colleges, the team created an installation at SPACE in Hackney on 3rd/4th July 2009.
The purpose of the project was to encourage young people from working class backgrounds, and their families, to consider careers in creative industries as viable career pathways; and to see wasy that HE could help them achieve their goals.
