Stanislavski in the World: the System and its transformations across continents –
Professor Jonathon Pitches and Dr Stefan Aquilina
The joint presentation outlines an ongoing international project on the global impact of Stanislavsky’s system. The presentation is structured in three parts. Part 1 addresses current scholarship on the transmission of Stanislavsky in the USSR, US and UK. Part 2 suggests that the global transmission of the system has relevance beyond Stanislavski studies by drawing attention to recent theories on interculturalism, globalisation, and the wider critical turn in performer training historiographies. Part 3 features two case studies sourced directly from the book Stanislavski in the World: the System and its transformations across continents.
