Mel Churcher

Acting for Film - Truth 24 Times a Second

‘Luc Besson asked me if I knew the difference between theatre and film acting. He said, “Give me your arm.” He ran his fingernail over my shirtsleeve: “That is theatre acting.” Then he rolled up my sleeve and drew his fingernail over my bare arm: “This is film acting”‘

Mel will hold a film acting masterclass on Tuesday 9th October 6pm - 9pm. There are a limited number of spaces for this practical workshop, and places cost £10. Please email theatrefutures.org.uk if you would like a place.

In 2007, Mel worked on various films including Control, which is about the life of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of the1970’s band ‘Joy Division’, the film based on Monica Ali’s book, Brick Lane and Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple.

Hot Tips for Cold Readings

Perfect for the jobbing actor, this class will demystify the sight-reading process and give the performer a solid base from which to work.; an essential part of the performers toolkit. The class will take place on Saturday 24 November from 1pm - 4pm and places cost £10.
