Chris Baldwin

Chris Baldwin, formerly Director of Spiral (Spain & UK) and now known as Chris Baldwin Theatre, has an international reputation for large scale outdoor theatre productions, cultural events, festival management and large format shadow puppetry. He is an alumnus of the College; has taught on the American Theatre Arts, European Theatre Arts, and MA in Theatre Practices Programmes; was a tutor for Theatre Studies by Distance Learning; and has involved staff and MA students in several projects in Spain and the UK, which are included in The Festival Adventure research project. His publications include Stage and Directing, and with Tina Bicat Devised and Collaborative Theatre;
and as award winning playwright, Bright Angel in Germany, and Cosima in Spain. Most recently he created and directed “When the Wind Blows” for the Four Winds Festival on Rutland Water in 2011 as part of the Cultural Olympiad, and Raise the Sky Worcester’s welcome of the Olympic Torch in the Olympic 2012 celebrations. He is the co-author (with Marina Assinova) of 1989 Mapping the Northwest – Applied Theatre and the Teaching of Disputed Histories, 2010, focusing on regions in Bulgaria. Recently he has been appointed to the team as ‘Artist of the City’ which will deliver Wroclaw European City of Culture 2016.
