Vakhtangov and The Russian Theatre: new DVD release

Moscow-based film director, Michael Craig, has just released a new 52 minute documentary - the third in his series on Russian theatre in the early 20th century.

Vakhtangov became one of the foremost directors of the Russian theatre in the early twentieth century until his death in 1922 at the age of 39.
Talented and enigmatic, his great achievement was the synthesis of Stanislavski’s theories of acting and realism and Meyerhold’s studied theatrically.
The Stanislavski Centre will be promoting the first London screening of the film, followed by a discussion with the director on 29th April at Pushkin House in Central London. Further details of this event will be available shortly.
The film is now available From Amazon in both PAL and NTSC versions.
