The Stanislavski Centre in partnership with Kingston University presents
2 workshops with Jay Paul Skelton
26 and 27 February from 18.00 to 20.30
Room C008
Viewpoints is a philosophy translated into a technique for training performers, building ensemble, and creating movement on stage. It is also a set of names given to certain principles of movement through time and space; these names constitute a language for talking about what happens on stage. Viewpoints is, ultimately, points of awareness that a performer or creator makes use of while working. The technique is derived from the world of dance and consequently assists the individual student in developing physical flexibility, clearer articulation, and strength in movement. It further allows a group of individuals to function together spontaneously and intuitively as an ensemble.
Participants will be introduced to the basic philosophy and technique of Viewpoints, work with the technique both within an ensemble and on an individual level, and apply the technique to a chosen or volunteered text.
