From 20th – 24th April 2009, Rose Bruford College held its Annual Symposium. In 2009, the theme was Further Festival Adventures: celebrating diversity and building communities.
It marked the second year of our research project The Festival Adventure, continuing to explore the notion of ‘festival’:What is the purpose of a festival? In what ways can a festival celebrate diversity? What is the place of a festival in a community?
These and other questions arose during the week as we explored them with our own college community and invited guests. The symposium included interactive workshops, ‘in conversations’, demonstrations, presentations, rehearsed readings, ‘work in progress’, panels, forums, installations, screenings, and live performance in many forms.
We concentrated this year on the work of students and staff; alumni and graduate companies; associate artists, researchers and theatre companies; and local, regional, national and European partners.
