Michael Corbidge is the 2013-14 Practitioner In Residence for the Voicing Shakespeare Research Project. Voicing Shakespeare is the major ongoing Research Project of the Rose Bruford Centre for Voice and Speech, which explores and documents approaches to re-invigorating the relationship of modern performers and audiences to Shakespeare’s language.
Michael is an international voice coach and practitioner and is Senior Voice and Text Associate with the Royal Shakespeare Compay.
Michael trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has spent more than 30 years in the Industry as an actor, director, writer and teacher. He is a former Associate Artistic Director of the Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) and Artistic Director of ‘The Young Company’ @ SRT - a training programme for aspiring actors. While based in South East Asia he was Senior Voice and Text Coach for Disney’s The Lion King. Writing commissions include a new children’s TV programme Witz Kids for Media Corps and 12 new adventures for Rainbow Bear for stage, screen, and publication.
As practitioner in residence - Michael is conducting a series of workshops for students of Rose Bruford College and professional actors, investigating contemporary approaches to acting Shakespeare.
