Join Howard Barker and members of his company The Wrestling School for a weekend of play-readings, discussions and practical workshops.

Event 1 – HEARING - A playreading and a conversation.

Distance - a reading of a new play by Howard Barker

Next year is the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War. This intense chamber piece is a meditation on love and grief.

Director – Gerrard McArthur

Cast – Jane Bertish, Suzy Cooper and Philip Cumbus

Followed by: Howard Barker in conversation with Gerrard McArthur

Event 2 – DOING - A day of workshops and discussion led by Howard Barker and members of the Wrestling School.

The day begins with a workshop led by Howard with members of The Wrestling School and students of Rose Bruford College on his latest play PREFIX. After lunch, attendees are invited to take part in one of several workshops conducted by members of the company, on its approach to acting and style. The day concludes with a panel discussion and opportunity for Q&A with Howard Barker, Gerrard McArthur and Jane Bertish (The Wrestling School), actress Sarah Belcher, Steve Dykes on behalf of Richard Romagnoli (Potomac Theater Project, NYC) and Dr James Reynolds (University of Kingston),
