Contemporary Directions is a newly-established ongoing research project and website exploring, articulating, contextualizing and celebrating the experience and practice of contemporary theatre directors. A key aim is to offer through the website a practically-useful resource to directors whether they are established, emerging or in training, as well as for anyone interested in the study and practice of directing.
A FULL LIST OF THE CLASSES CAN BE FOUND ON THE EVENTS PAGE.
The project is coordinated out of Rose Bruford College, which has a successful tradition of director training, in association with Presence Theatre and the Directors Guild. It is hoped that at its core will be the insights and experience of a broad range of current and recent practicing directors recorded through interview, discussion and practical workshops; identifying and articulating common elements of practice while celebrating the particular and unique; aiming as far as possible to distill and contextualize without schematizing or oversimplifying. A further intention is to audit and map relevant resources in archives and libraries nationally.
